Bhagavad Gita 1.37
तस्मान्नार्हा वयं हन्तुं धार्तराष्ट्रान्स्वबान्धवान् । स्वजनं हि कथं हत्वा सुखिनः स्याम माधव ॥
tasmān nārhā vayaṃ hantuṃ dhārtarāṣṭrān sva-bāndhavān | sva-janaṃ hi kathaṃ hatvā sukhinaḥ syāma mādhava ||
Translation
Therefore it is not fit for us to kill the sons of Dhritarashtra, our kinsmen; for how can we be happy, O Madhava, after killing our own people?

Where does a "therefore" in your head hide what you really decided?
Read this verse in its chapter: Chapter One
Tasmāt. Therefore. The first formal therefore of the chapter. Arjuna is constructing a proof. Premise: they are kin. Conclusion: we cannot kill them. The intervening logical work, that the law permits, that the cause is just, that the alternative is also kin-killing by another route, is left unwritten. The therefore is doing more than syntax. It is the sound of a mind closing a door on the rest of its options.
