Bhagavad Gita 11.45
अदृष्टपूर्वं हृषितोऽस्मि दृष्ट्वा भयेन च प्रव्यथितं मनो मे | तदेव मे दर्शय देव रूपं प्रसीद देवेश जगन्निवास ||
adṛṣṭa-pūrvaṁ hṛṣito'smi dṛṣṭvā bhayena ca pravyathitaṁ mano me | tad eva me darśaya deva rūpaṁ prasīda deveśa jagan-nivāsa ||
Translation
Having seen what was never seen before, I am rejoiced, and my mind is troubled with fear. Show me, O god, that form. Be gracious, O lord of gods, O dwelling of the world.

What vision has done its work and is now asking you to come back?

Having seen what was never seen before, I am rejoiced, and my mind is troubled with fear. Show me, O god, that form. Be gracious, O lord of gods, dwelling of the world. Adrishta-purvam hrishito asmi drishtva. The doubled response is honest. The sight has gladdened him because it has fulfilled what he asked for. And it has terrified him beyond his bearing. He asks to be returned to the form he knew. The asking is not a retreat from the vision. It is a recognition that the vision has done its work and that he cannot continue to inhabit it. The body that began this scene asking to see now asks to be returned. The chapter is bending toward its close.
