Chapter 12Verse 8 of 20

Bhagavad Gita 12.8

मय्येव मन आधत्स्व मयि बुद्धिं निवेशय | निवसिष्यसि मय्येव अत ऊर्ध्वं न संशयः ||

mayy eva mana ādhatsva mayi buddhiṁ niveśaya | nivasiṣyasi mayy eva ata ūrdhvaṁ na saṁśayaḥ ||

Translation

Fix your mind on me alone, place your intellect in me. You will dwell in me hereafter. No doubt.

The first concrete instruction. Mayy eva manah adhatsva. Place your mind in me alone. Mayi buddhim niveshaya. Place your intellect in me. Nivasishyasi mayy eva. You will live in me. Ata urdhvam, after this, hereafter. Na samshayah, no doubt. The four steps of the verse stack mind, intellect, dwelling, certainty. The mind is the placement organ. The intellect is the decider. Together they are the whole inner apparatus of orientation. When both are placed in Krishna, the practitioner already lives in Krishna and the final dwelling follows naturally. No samshaya. Krishna gives Arjuna the practice in the form of a guarantee. The verse is the highest standard of this chapter, given first. The verses below will name what to do if the highest standard is not yet reachable.

Reflection

If you placed your decider in one address today, which address would it be?
