Bhagavad Gita 18.45
स्वे स्वे कर्मण्यभिरतः संसिद्धिं लभते नरः । स्वकर्मनिरतः सिद्धिं यथा विन्दति तच्छृणु ॥
sve sve karmaṇy abhirataḥ saṃsiddhiṃ labhate naraḥ / sva-karma-nirataḥ siddhiṃ yathā vindati tac chṛṇu
Translation
Each one, devoted to their own work, attains perfection. Hear how, devoted to his own work, a person attains perfection.
Reflection
What would change if you treated your current ordinary work as the actual path?
Read this verse in its chapter: Chapter Eighteen
The pivot the chapter has been building toward. Sve sve karmani, in one's own work, abhi-rataha, deeply engaged. Samsiddhi, complete accomplishment, the inward fulfillment that is also a kind of liberation. This is the chapter's central practical claim. Liberation is not somewhere else. It is in the work that is yours, performed in the right spirit. The renunciate's robe is not required. The pilgrim's road is not required. The next verse will name how the ordinary work converts into the path. The promise is generous and democratic. Anyone, in any honest occupation, with the right interior orientation, can reach the same destination.
