Bhagavad Gita 4.14
न मां कर्माणि लिम्पन्ति न मे कर्मफले स्पृहा । इति मां योऽभिजानाति कर्मभिर्न स बध्यते ॥
na māṃ karmāṇi limpanti na me karma-phale spṛhā | iti māṃ yo 'bhijānāti karmabhir na sa badhyate ||
Translation
Actions do not taint me, nor do I long for the fruits of action. He who thus knows me is not bound by actions.

Read this verse in its chapter: Chapter Four
Limpanti. Smear, taint, stick. The actions do not smear the lord. Spṛhā, longing, is not in him for the fruit. The verse is the inner picture of the akarta claim from the previous line: the lord acts and the action does not adhere. The student is shown the geometry he is being asked to imitate. Iti māṃ yo abhijānāti, he who knows me thus, karmabhir na badhyate, is not bound by actions. The verse turns the teaching: knowing the lord this way is itself the freeing knowledge.
