Bhagavad Gita 4.22
यदृच्छालाभसन्तुष्टो द्वन्द्वातीतो विमत्सरः । समः सिद्धावसिद्धौ च कृत्वापि न निबध्यते ॥
yadṛcchā-lābha-santuṣṭo dvandvātīto vimatsaraḥ | samaḥ siddhāv asiddhau ca kṛtvāpi na nibadhyate ||
Translation
Content with what comes unsought, beyond the pairs of opposites, free from envy, equal in success and failure, even when he acts, he is not bound.

Read this verse in its chapter: Chapter Four
Yadṛcchā-lābha-santuṣṭa. Satisfied with the gain that happens. The verse uses an unusual word, yadṛcchā, the just-happening, the unwilled arrival. The wise man is content with what shows up on its own. Dvandvātīta, beyond the pairs: heat and cold, praise and blame, gain and loss. Vimatsara, without grudge. Samaḥ siddhau asiddhau ca, same in success and failure. The verse stacks five postures, each easy to say and hard to hold. Aurobindo reads this not as a checklist but as a single inner standing seen from five angles.
