Bhagavad Gita 6.44
पूर्वाभ्यासेन तेनैव ह्रियते ह्यवशोऽपि सः | जिज्ञासुरपि योगस्य शब्दब्रह्मातिवर्तते ||
pūrvābhyāsena tenaiva hriyate hy avaśo 'pi saḥ | jijñāsur api yogasya śabda-brahmātivartate ||
Translation
For by that same previous practice he is carried on even though reluctant. Even one who merely wishes to know devotion rises above the divine word.

Where did simple curiosity about this path first carry you further than you expected?

The momentum from the earlier practice is so strong that it pulls him forward whether or not he is willing. He does not have to summon the desire to begin again. The current is already carrying him. The second line widens the door further. Even the man who only wants to know what devotion is, before he has done anything, has already moved past the level of scripture and ritual word. Curiosity itself, if it is real, is the first motion of the path. Krishna is being generous in this paragraph. He is showing how many doors lead in, and how few ways there are to actually stay out.
