Bhagavad Gita 8.20
परस्तस्मात्तु भावोऽन्योऽव्यक्तोऽव्यक्तात्सनातनः | यः स सर्वेषु भूतेषु नश्यत्सु न विनश्यति ||
paras tasmāt tu bhāvo'nyo'vyakto'vyaktāt sanātanaḥ | yaḥ sa sarveṣu bhūteṣu naśyatsu na vinaśyati ||
Translation
But distinct from this unmanifest there is another unmanifest existence, eternal, which is not destroyed when all beings are destroyed.
Reflection
What in you has felt untouched by the breathing of the worlds?
Read this verse in its chapter: Chapter Eight
Beyond the unmanifest that breathes the worlds in and out, there is another unmanifest. Eternal. Not destroyed when all beings are destroyed. The verse marks a second order of being. The first is the latent state from which the cosmos emerges and into which it returns. The second is what does not return. It is not the void that follows the destruction. It is a different unmanifest, older than the cycle, untouched by it. He is widening the picture again. The seeker who thought the unmanifest was the highest is being shown a higher still. The path that ends in the second is the path that ends in Him.
