Bhagavad Gita 9.34
मन्मना भव मद्भक्तो मद्याजी मां नमस्कुरु | मामेवैष्यसि युक्त्वैवमात्मानं मत्परायणः ||
man-manā bhava mad-bhakto mad-yājī māṁ namaskuru | mām evaiṣyasi yuktvaivam ātmānaṁ mat-parāyaṇaḥ ||
Translation
Fix your mind on me. Be devoted to me. Sacrifice to me. Bow to me. Thus, with self yoked to me and intent on me, you will come to me.
Reflection
Which of the four, mind, devotion, sacrifice, or bow, needs your attention today?
Read this verse in its chapter: Chapter Nine
The closing verse and the whole chapter folded into one. Fix the mind on Krishna. Be devoted to Him. Sacrifice to Him. Bow to Him. Four imperatives that cover mind, heart, action, and body. The result follows. Yoked thus, with the self intent on Him, the listener comes to Him. The verse will recur in only slightly different wording at the close of the Gita. Its placement here is the chapter's signature ending. Everything in the preceding thirty-three verses, the sovereign knowledge, the sovereign secret, the cosmic emanation, the high path and the wrong path, the leaf and flower, the devotee who is not lost, condenses into these four commands. The chapter has earned the simplicity.
